April Assembly

20th Apr 2026

Our school assembly took place last Friday and was a very positive and uplifting occasion for all involved. We began with the whole school coming together to sing Our Lighthouse, beautifully led by pupils from 4th class who also guided everyone through the actions.

Members of the Student Council spoke about our upcoming fundraiser for Pieta House, which will take place on Friday 24th April, reminding everyone of the importance of supporting such a meaningful cause. Mrs. McCaffrey also addressed the assembly, speaking about our school promise and the four pillars that guide our behaviour and values each day.

Pupils who celebrated birthdays in March were also remembered, and the whole school joined together in singing Happy Birthday to them as well as being presented with birthday bracelets.

A new “line-up challenge” was introduced for all classes, with house points and plenty of incentives on offer—this will be a key focus for the coming weeks. Comhghairdeas to the Red Team, who were awarded the House Cup and will enjoy a well-earned homework pass. Well done also to all our pupils, who were rewarded with extra playtime last Friday in recognition of their excellent efforts.

Our Maths Challenge winners were also presented with their prizes. It has been wonderful to see so many pupils engaging with the maths problems displayed in the corridors, generating great discussion and enthusiasm for maths across the school.

We were delighted to acknowledge and wish the very best of luck to the under 10 girls representing Newcastle GAA in Croke Park this Sunday playing football, as well as to Tom, Billy and James who will be playing rugby in the Aviva Stadium. We also extended huge congratulations to Mr. Berrigan on completing the Barcelona Marathon recently—an incredible achievement.

Thank you to Mrs. McCaffrey for all her work in leading another wonderful assembly.

Well done to everyone—we are very proud of you all!
