About Our School
Scoil Mhuire Cáisleán Nua is located in the heart of Newcastle Village in Co.Tipperary. We currently have 122 pupils enrolled. The current school building has five mainstream classrooms and two A.S.D. classrooms. There are currently 22 staff member employed at Scoil Mhuire. Below is a brief overview of some of the things that Scoil Mhuire offers its students.
- Scoil Mhuire has an excellent range of resources that enhance the children's learning and enables them to reach their full potential. These resources include newly installed interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, digital cameras, visualisers, overhead projectors, computers, tablets, keyboards, headphones, science and maths equipment.
- The school has a play area at the front and rear of the school, a grass area, a sensory garden, a greenhouse and several garden allotments for the children to grow some vegetables, beans, herbs etc. We are also fortunate to have access an outdoor astroturf pitch and a sports hall adjacent to the school grounds.
- We have an excellent range of sports equipment that allows the children to experience a wide range of sports, including hurling, football, soccer, basketball, hockey, tag-rugby, athletics, rugby etc.
- First to sixth classes attend swimming lessons every year.
- The school also boasts many school clubs and committees that give the students of Scoil Mhuire every opportunity to experience wide variety of opportunities. These are lead by teachers during the school day and through after school clubs, such as the school choir, green school committee, student council, chess, after school soccer, football and hurling training and debating to name just a few.
- Two Autism classes work collaboratively with mainstream classes to integrate students whenever and however possible.
- Students at Scoil Mhuire are brought on regular field trips to provide 'hand on' learning experiences
