Green Schools: Biodiversity
This year, in 2023, we achieved our 5th Green School Flag for Biodiversity.Biodiversity refers to every living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals, and humans. We have nine members on our Green Schools Committee. Ms. Stafford is the Green Schools Co-Ordinator. Three members from 3rd class, Adam Prendergast, Gracie O’Dwyer and Jessie Burke. Three members from 4th class, Lauren Kelly, Oisín Harris and Shay Condon. Two members from 5th class Lucy Hackett and Tiernan Begley and one member from 6th class Callum Hackett. Lucy is our president, Tieranan is our secertary. We have two photographers Shay and Callum. We have three artists Oisín, Gracie and Adam. Lauren and Jessie are our rubbish, water and energy monitors. Two of our SNA’s Roisín Mc Grath and Riona Grant are also part of the green school committee. Dave Hewitt has been coming into us to help us with our school garden. We have a lovely sensory garden with different beds for the different senses such as taste, smell, sight and touch. The Green schools committee meet after school on a Wednesday.
We have achieved our goal of getting our fifth green flag. We are delighted with all the hard work that the students put in to getting this flag for the school. Well done to Ms. Stafford and the committee.
