Last year, our school submitted an application for the prestigious Every Child A Reader programme—and we are thrilled to announce that we were one of only 21 schools nationwide selected to participate!
Because we were chosen for this program, our library is receiving a major upgrade of 250 brand-new books this year. We were so excited to take delivery of the first half of our collection just last week. The remaining 100 books will arrive in June, and the best part is that these will be hand-picked by the children themselves, giving our students a real voice in what they want to read.
The excitement is already building! As part of the initiative, we are delighted to welcome the talented illustrator Audrey Dowling as our "Champion of Reading." Audrey will be visiting our school throughout the term, with each class receiving three creative workshops.
Our younger students have already jumped into the fun—Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st Class, and 2nd Class had their very first workshop with Audrey on January 20th. They absolutely loved the experience! We can’t wait to see the rest of the school dive into these creative sessions and enjoy our wonderful new library.
