As members of the school staff, we stand in full solidarity with our valued colleague, Linda, who is currently participating in the ongoing industrial action led by Fórsa in pursuit of fair working conditions for school secretaries across Ireland.
Linda is not just our secretary—she is the backbone of our school. Her work goes far beyond the job title. From managing administration to supporting students, parents, and staff alike, Linda's contribution is essential to the smooth running of our entire school community. Yet despite her dedication, professionalism, and the critical nature of her role, she and many others in her position have been treated unequally and unfairly for far too long.
The current industrial action is part of Fórsa’s ongoing campaign to secure fairer conditions for these staff, including:

Equal pay for secretaries doing the same work as their directly-employed counterparts

Access to public service pensions

Job security and proper recognition for the vital role they play
Linda’s participation in the strike reflects a broader call for fairness and respect for school secretaries nationally. We support her right to take this action and stand with her in the hope that a fair and long-term resolution can be reached.
