Our February Assembly
Last Friday we enjoyed a truly wonderful school assembly led by Mrs. McCaffrey, which was both engaging and meaningful for pupils and staff alike. The assembly opened beautifully with Our Lighthouse song, led by the girls from 4th class who guided us with lovely actions.
Mrs. McCaffrey spoke to the pupils about Pancake Tuesday, cleverly linking the simple ingredients needed to make pancakes—flour, eggs, milk and toppings—to our school promise. Just as all the ingredients are needed to make the perfect pancake, she explained that we must mix together all our school pillars: kindness, being responsible, trying our best, and being respectful. This was a fantastic and memorable way to explain our values, and it really resonated with everyone.
The pupils were also introduced to the launch of our Monthly Maths Problem, which will be displayed around the school. Mrs. McCaffrey encouraged excitement and curiosity, highlighting how it will spark lots of mathematical discussion and creative thinking among the children.
A lovely moment followed as all pupils celebrating their birthdays in the month of January were sung Happy Birthday by the entire school and received a Happy Birthday wrist band. Mrs. McCaffrey also spoke about Scór na bPáistí, encouraging pupils to get involved if they wish and reassuring them that participation is all about enjoyment and giving things a go.
Sincere thanks to Mrs. McCaffrey for such a thoughtful and enjoyable assembly that left everyone feeling motivated and valued.
