Visit to the Community Garden 🌱

1st May 2026

Our 5th and 6th class students recently enjoyed a wonderful visit to the local community garden, where they had a hands-on learning experience in a beautiful outdoor setting.

During the visit, the children helped Mr. Hewitt to harvest onions, getting a real sense of where food comes from and the work involved in growing it. They also learned about composting, with Mr. Hewitt explaining how organic materials break down through the decomposition process to create nutrient-rich soil.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to connect with nature and learn more about sustainability in a practical and engaging way.

A big thank you to Mr. Hewitt for his time, knowledge and continued efforts in including the children of Scoil Mhuire in such valuable experiences.
